by @ 8:33 am. Filed under General

Parents of the missing girl, Madeleine McCann have now been named as “arguidos” or formal suspects in the case, their spokesman Justine McGuinness has told the press that the Portuguese police believe Madeleine was killed by accident.

All of this though raises some questions about the Madeleine Fund, which now tops 1 million GBP, donated […]

Ice Cricket in Latvia

by @ 1:15 pm. Filed under Friends & Family

That’s pretty cool - Julian (http://www.balticadventures.co.uk) got filmed by Reuters in a spot about their ice cricket tours. Looks fun, it’s amazing it hasn’t caught on more over here in Russia, god knows we get enough snow!

Russians Need To Use Seatbelts

by @ 11:51 am. Filed under Russia

As anyone who has visited Russia knows, their drivers are pretty crazy. It’s common here to undercut/overcut other traffic and drive at ridiculous speeds in poor conditions. Only yesterday we got news that 45 cars had a crash on the Moscow road but accidents are very common. The main reason you know this is […]

Doherty Death Remains Unsolved

by @ 2:41 pm. Filed under Friends & Family

You often hear talk about the failure and corruption of the Russian justice system, or the bias/censorship of the press. The West loves jumping onto that high moral ground whenever something happens here. Take the murder of journalist Anna Politkowska or the assassination of bank head, Alexander Slesarev.

It’s been very interesting for me to watch […]

Did Pete Doherty and friends murder Mark Blanco?

by @ 3:10 pm. Filed under Friends & Family

It was very sad to find out this week that an old school friend of mine, Mark Blanco, died after falling 30ft from a balcony of a flat in London. Mark was a good guy, very intelligent and driven and obviously going places with his life.

He had gone round to visit the flat of […]

Russian Recycling - good ideas from the past?

by @ 10:22 am. Filed under Russia

When it comes to environmentalism, you don’t normally think of Russia of somewhere particularly ‘green’. Partly that’s true, you’re more likely to see a plane here than a car running on a Hybrid engine. One area they excel at though is recycling bottles and cans. At most street corners you can catch a babooshka (old […]

Ivanovo Airport

by @ 12:32 pm. Filed under Russia

GREAT news. We heard on the TV last night that Ivanovo has been given 500m roubles ($180k) to repair and reopen the city airport, closed since 1991. There have been rumours about it reopening for a while now, will all this extra oil/gas money being available for development, but this is the official confirmation everyone […]

Playing chicken with trucks …at night

by @ 12:28 pm. Filed under General

Well on the way back from the Internet and Business Conference in Moscow we had a close call. There’s no lights on the main roads heading back to Ivanovo and Anna gets blinded very easily by the oncoming traffic - resulting in her unnervingly squinting her eyes and swaying on the road trying to keep […]
